1973 Norton 850 Commando
Beautiful Restored Bike, Lots of Recent Work with Receipts, Matching Numbers
This 73 850 Commando was sympathetically restored and rebuilt in 2012 by John at Competition Cycles in Connecticut. We bought another Commando from one of his customers earlier this year, a very original bike with 9500 original miles, so we know his work and loved that bike.
At Competition Cycles, the tank was cleaned, the master cylinder was taken off and rebuilt, the front end was disassembled and new steering head bearings installed, the forks rebuilt, the front and rear isolatics were replaced and adjusted, the caliper was rebuilt, the rear hub and rear wheel were disassembled and the wheel bearing was replaced, a new rear chain was installed, the ignition switch was repaired, all cables were replaced, the carbs were cleaned, the front rim was replaced, the headlight was replaced, as well as the signals and battery, the rear shocks were replaced, the oil lines, fuel lines and filter were replaced, new petcocks installed, the seat is new, as are both fenders are new as well as the all the rubber (grips, foot pegs, etc.)
Since we've gotten the bike we put on brand new Dunlop K81/TT100s in stock sizes and adjusted the clutch. The only real flaw on the bike that we can find is some light scuffing on the rear frame hoop behind the seat. The paint is excellent and pretty much flawless, the chrome is near perfect and the bike runs and rides extremely well.
This is an excellent, matching numbers bike and one of the cleanest commandos we have seen.
