1973 Norton Commando 850
Outstanding Concours-Level Restored Bike, MK. III Isolastics, Best Riding Commando We've Had
This 73 Norton Commando 850 was sold originally by Ron’s Cycles in Leominster, MA. Ron’s sticker is still on the oil tank, under the side cover. Ron has a long history and a great reputation in the Norton community. From what we were told by the previous owner, the 13,668 miles indicated are original. The top end of the motor was freshened, the bottom end was inspected and declared perfect. The primary drive and gearbox were cleaned, checked and serviced. It has Norton bronze clutch plates, which function much better than Barnett plates. New Renold chain. New Dunlop K81 tires with the original Dunlop rims and stainless steel spokes. New correct seat, manufactured by the original supplier to the Norton factory. All aluminum parts were professionally polished, along with the stainless steel fenders. Professionally repainted gas tank and side covers. Hand-pinstriped and clear coated. Cleaned, lubricated and restored tachometer and speedometer. New genuine Lucas taillight. Updated Mk.III isolastics, much easier to adjust. Rebuilt brake master cylinder and caliper with stainless steel pistons. All of the original chrome parts were re-chromed, not replaced with reproductions. New exhaust system without the crossover, with NOS mufflers. Carefully cleaned and rebuilt carbs, with an NOS auto-advance unit make the bike run and idle like a dream.
This is the best restored Commando we've ever seen, both cosmetically and mechanically. We've sold 5 Commandos in the last 6 months and this is hands down the best example by a pretty large margin (and the others were really nice bikes!)
