1970 BSA Lightning
Excellent Rider, Extremely Well Maintained, Tons of Receipts, Matching Numbers
This 1970 BSA Lighning is an excellent rider that has been owned by an British motorcycle enthusiast for the last 16 years. It was originally a California bike and my customer bought it from the second owner while he was living in CA. During that time, he has ridden it extensively and gone through nearly every component on it (with receipts for nearly all the work.)
Motor & transmission were rebuilt about 7 years ago. It has new carbs, coils, petcocks, fork tubes & springs, Lucas wiring harness, vintage Boranni shouldered aluminum rims with Avon Super Venom tires. Wheels built by Buchanan in southern CA. Seat recovered with NOS stock BSA cover. New sealed battery. Lots of parts were powder coated black, motor polished, and mufflers re-chromed. Original "grey face" gauges rebuilt by a specialist in Georgia. Boyer electronic ignition. New Ignition with working keys, and working steering lock. Shocks are adjustable Hagon's. Bars are off a BSA A10. Tanks and panels were repainted & pinstriped by Skratch's Garage in LA. Badges were also repolished and painted. All electrics function properly.
Over the last several years, it has been maintained by Britbike authority Hugh at 6th Street Specials in Manhattan. Cosmetically the bike is a nice rider, with some touchups and other imperfections, but overall a very attractive bike with a lot of eye appeal.
This bike has been ridden from LA to the Oregon boarder and back with no issues. My customer spent over $15,000 on upgrading and restoring the bike and we have a huge amount of receipts. Bike also comes with Haynes manual and parts manual.
