1964 BMW R60/2
Original Paint with Factory Orignal Pinstriper's Intial on Bottom of Tank, 4000 Original Miles, Motor Serviced and Rebuilt by Benchmarkworks, Fully Sorted Out
This 1964 BMW R60/2, serial number 626208 was delivered on May 14th 1964 to BMW importer Butler and Smith in New York City. Several years ago, it was purchased from the original owner’s wife with 4000 original miles on it. The tank still retains its original paint, in remarkable original condition. If you look on the bottom of the tank you will still see the original white painted R from the BMW factory pinstriper. After it was purchased, it was completely rebuilt from the ground up.
The motor and transmission were sent out to /2 authority Craig Vechorik at Benchmarkworks. Upon examining the slingers and transmission, and finding them completely clean and nearly unused, he called the owner and told him that this was definitely a 4000 original mile bike. He said the motor and transmission didn't need a rebuild and the slingers didn't need a service as they were so clean. But the owner wanted the motor rebuilt anyway. The transmission was put back together. The cylinders were sent out to Bore-tech, where they were honed and carbide bored and the pistons were machined. Below is a partial and condensed list of what was done to the bike (receipts included in sale.)

The bike was reassembled and recently fully serviced and sorted out by Peter at Moto Borgotaro. All the electrics work properly, the signals work, the high and low beam work, as does the rear tail light and brake light. The bike is fitted with the somewhat less common Pagusa solo seat.
The bike runs and rides extremely well and starts up on one or two kicks. This is a rare opportunity to own an original paint bike with very low original miles, with the benefit of rebuilt and sorted out mechanicals by one of the country's foremost airhead experts.
Bike is sold with a clean and clear NY transferrable registration (the title for pre-73 bikes in NY state) and will be properly transferred through my licensed NY state dealership.
