1955 Triumph Thunderbird 6T

Fully Restored by Triumph Expert and Triumph Concours Winner Tom Ackroyd, Matching Numbers, 47 Miles on Restoration

This 1955 Triumph Thunderbird 6T was ground-up restored by Triumph expert and concours winner Tom Ackroyd of New Jersey. He is well known among the Triumph crowd on the east coast for building 100% correct bikes to show in AMA and other national competitions. He has scored near 1000 points for his bikes in national shows, and his wife is a national concours judge. After restoring it, he sold it to another east coast Triumph expert, Al Hartman.

The bike was treated to a full restoration. It was taken down to the frame, which was stripped and powdercoated. The engine was rebuilt, all the wiring was redone, the bike was fitted with new tires and rims, and the bike was painted. This is an extremely fine example of a 6T Thunderbird. The bike has gorgeous dark blue paint with a deep luster, and all of the metal surfaces are beautifully polished. Tom Ackroyd came first in class at the the Triumph Come Home Concours with a 1952 Thunderbird several years ago, and came third in class at the British and European Motorcycle Days Concours as well with a Triumph TR6. This is an extremely correct and beautifully restored bike that has been gone through and goes down the road beautifully. The only nits to pick on the bike are a small chip on the top right hand side of the tank and the shell blue rims (the previous owner changed the bike from shell blue to the darker blue it is now.) As you can see, the bike has 47 miles on the restoration.
